TRAINING ADVOCACY AND EMPOWERMENT COORDINATOR, MTG
Winnie was born in 1989 and raised Largely in Rarieda-Siaya County and partially in Nairobi where the values of hard work and discipline were inculcated in her. She went to Madaraka Primary school and Lwak Girls Primary Boarding. She later joined Lwak Girls High School where she scored a mean grade of A-, which saw her join Moi University to pursue Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. Later, she joined Kenyatta University to pursue a Master’s in Public Health (Epidemiology and Disease Control). She has undertaken professional training in the areas of Project Management, M and E, Field Studies in Public Health (Boston University) and she is a National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) Licensed Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Audit (EIA/EA) Expert.
Winnie has worked for more than 5 years to advance health and economic rights of poor and vulnerable people through designing, implementing and managing public health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), Livelihood and Advocacy programs in both development and humanitarian contexts. Prior to joining MTG in 2017, she served as a Program Manager for IsraAID in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Prior to that, she served as a Program Officer for WASH United Africa-Nairobi and as a Field Supervisor CDC/KEMRI in Bungoma County. Winnie has extensive knowledge and Experience in Project Management, M and E, Public Health Interventions, Research, WASH, Advocacy and Livelihood.
Winnie Currently heads the Training Advocacy and Empowerment department, where her roles entail providing programming leadership and technical support in the areas Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, Child Protection, Education and Vocational training, Financial Literacy; Gender Based Violence and oversee implementation of Advocacy Strategy. Winnie is passionate about empowering women and girls, an agenda which is the cornerstone of all MTG activities and that which gives her the impetus to come to work every day, knowing that her efforts are contributing towards changing a girl’s life. She loves reading, football, and playing table tennis. Thanks to MTG; she can score using her left foot, the tactics cannot get any better. Tunaweza!
