Lucy Hawthorne

CEO and Partner, My Skincare Secret, LLC

Lucy Hawthorne is an Entrepreneur with a passion for service.  Lucy has over 20 years working with Refugees. She supported Ethiopian and Sudanese refugees in various capacities while in Kenya. When War started in Mogadishu and the Somali people took refuge in neighboring Kenya, she was actively involved as a volunteer in their receiving and resettlement efforts.

Lucy has hands on experience in the service industry through membership in Rotary International, Save Our Children International, Autism Society of Kenya and as a Founder President of the Soroptimist International club of Mombasa, she was instrumental in getting the Kenya Union into the European Federation by becoming the Governor of Kenya to the European Federation.

When Lucy and her family moved to Georgia 12 years ago it was only natural that she would try to reach out to the refugee community in the hope that she might meet and reconnect some of the families she assisted in the resettlement effort.  Lucy has been a community activist within the Clarkston refugee community. She enjoys assisting the refugee families in navigating and understanding the American system. She has served as a Board Member of the Refugee Women’s Network in Atlanta. She currently serves in the Judicial Review Panel of the Fulton and DeKalb County Juvenile courts in Georgia, USA.

Lucy is the CEO and Partner of My Skincare Secret LLC; a family company that was created to encourage her children to get involved in entrepreneurship.  Her daughter, Natasha helps with Product Development (she is a Bio/Chem. major at university) and her son Mark helps in Finance (an economics and Finance graduate) while a last born son helps with Logistics.

At the nudging and encouragement of her former Pastor in Kenya her family created a Fun and Educational tour company (Lifetime Educational Tours LLC) purely to give teens and youth to the USA for a Global experience. Lucy has travelled and worked extensively in over 30 countries in Africa. She has worked in Europe and now lives in Atlanta with her 3 adult children. In her free time Lucy enjoys volunteering in church activities, reading and dancing. She is always looking for opportunity to contribute to society.

Lucy has Masters in Leadership and Management, a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Literature and an Associate Degree in Public Relations and Journalism.
