Men Impact Change (M.I.C.) has awarded their prestigious entrepreneurship award to Erastus Mong’are, HSC, Executive Director at StartUpAfrica (SUA). This award is presented annually by M.I.C. to recognize the quality leadership of outstanding men who are making an impact in their communities in different ways. The Men Impact Change Honor Ceremony goal is to break the negative stereotypes affecting our boys and Men. A total of 14 Men advancing the legacy of Change in 5 categories, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Philanthropy, and Education & Community Organizers were honored during the event.
Erastus was nominated for the passion he has in the work he does complemented with his ability to bring about transformational change through collaborations in the areas entrepreneurship, service and leadership.
Mong’are’s achievements include initiating and successfully bringing key partnerships with the African Union, Kenya’s Ministry of Education, Science & Technology and Vision 2030 Secretariat, Commonwealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa, higher education institutions such as Kenyatta University, University of Delaware and Medgar Evers College, USA among others. These partners have helped advance StartUpAfrica’s mission in a magnitude that’s helping prepare and position Africa’s youth as the next job creators.
“I am greatly honored to receive this award from M.I.C.,” said Mong’are. “Working collaboratively with SUA’s partners to enhance our entrepreneurship efforts in Africa and the USA has been a tremendous experience that I don’t take for granted. I am extremely proud of the impact these partnerships have brought us, and will in the future, on helping create much needed jobs through entrepreneurship in Africa.”
M.I.C mission is to honor and celebrate the great men making an impact in the community and engage them in mentoring the boy child; specifically boys from abusive families, from single family, those affected by gun violence and those without father figures in their lives, by redefining manhood.
